Temporary Street Closures

 

 


 

The intersection at East Park Avenue and SE 8th Street will be closed beginning Monday, November 23, 2009 for approximately one week. This closure is necessary for sanitary sewer repairs.  A detour will be posted using East Indianola Avenue, East Watrous Avenue and SE 5th Street.  Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing.  If there are questions, contact Zach Erickson, project engineer, City of Des Moines at 283-4023.

 


 

SW 11th Street from Dart Way to West Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway will be closed beginning Monday, November 23, 2009.  As part of this construction, Tuttle Avenue between SW 9th and SW 11th will also be closed.  The closure will be in effect until next summer, and is part of the city’s SW 11th Street paving project.  Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing.  If there are questions, contact Matt Becker, Project Engineer, at 283-4026.

 


 

George Flagg Parkway from 30th Street to Park Avenue will be closed to traffic between the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. beginning on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, for storm sewer installation in the 3600 block of George Flagg Parkway.  The road is expected to be reopened Friday, November 13, 2009.  Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing.  If there are questions, contact Mark McCaune, Public Works Section Chief at 248-6093.

 


 

11th Street from Grand Avenue to High Street will be closed beginning on Thursday, October 8, 2009, for approximately one year, for work in conjunction with the construction of the Wellmark facility.  Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing.  If there are questions, contact the City of Des Moines Traffic and Transportation Division at 283-4973.

 


 

SE 3rd Street between Raccoon Street and Allen Street will be closed beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2009 for work in conjunction with the S.E. Connector project.  The street will be permanently closed as part of the construction project.  Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing.  If there are questions, contact Eugene Schmitt, Project Engineer, City of Des Moines at 283-4024.

 


 

The intersection of SE 4th Street and Raccoon Street will be closed to traffic beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, for approximately 4 weeks. This closure is necessary for work in conjunction with the SE Connector project.  Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.  If there are questions, contact Eugene Schmitt, Project Engineer, at 283-4024.

 


 

Woodland Avenue from 31st Street to 35th Street will be closed to traffic beginning Thursday July 30, 2009.  The closure is expected to last approximately 4 months, and is necessary for construction of the Ingersoll Run Storm Sewer Project. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing.  If there are questions, contact John Boehmer, project engineer, at 323-8171.

 


 

Allen Street from SE 4th Street to SE 10th Street will be closed to traffic beginning Thursday April 2, 2009 for approximately five months.  The intersections at Allen Street and SE 5th, SE 7th, SE 8th and SE 9th will be closed all other intersections will remain open. This closure is necessary for the SE Connector project. Local access will be maintained.  Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing.  If there are questions, contact Gene Schmitt, project engineer, at 283-4024.
